Martin Luther King had goals - small things he needed to work towards to make his vision real but in his big speeches, he didn't talk about goals, he talked about 'dreaming'. 'I have a dream...'
In his big speeches, he shared his dream of people being equal and when he spoke, people could see his vision clearly.
This showed him to be a great leader.
People talk about goals all the time!
What do you think about goals? Not the football ones, but the goals that we set for our life to make what we want come true, to make our vision real
We can talk about goals but how can we make goals glow? So that they are bright and clear and keep us warm. Adrian Gilpin who is a leadership teacher, says that goals won't work unless they are OWNED by us. They must belong to us
O - they have to be ours W - we have to really want them happen N - we must feel like our goals are happening now. E - we need to make them full of energy. D - we must drive them.
This week we are going to look to the future and talk about our Vision.
If you could paint a picture of what you want in the future, what would you paint? what would you be doing? How would you be feeling?
If getting to where you really want to be was like being in a racing car, the goals could be the pit stops, where you stop by the side of the track to think about the race so far, to get more fuel...change a few wheels....
How would you describe your journey? Go to basecamp and let us know.
